Igor"s Lamma Island
Somehow I found Jumbo floating restaurant - they were making a movie.
Hong Kong had a Very big impact on me. - I want to be like 河國榮. Took about 5times longer to go than I had anticipated, but worth ever moment - would recommend to anyone - an adventure!!
Small navigational error meant a 6km walk across the pitch black island on unknown paths.
Restaurants along the way came out from the darkness - so many different types of amazing sea creatures
I made a telephone call to my daughter in Nagano from here (above) which helped pull out from darkness.
The picture above looks very bright...but it was not....actually quite concerning walking on a new place without lights in dark, - except this camera's (Nikon D40) autofocus pilot light which was a blessing.
One or two times I could hear larger animals 2 or 3 metres from the trail...^-^
Emergency Telephone ....somewhere on Lamma Island...
We talked until after midnight about more than amateur radio...must go back
Igor told me about the benefits of communism & explained how valuable it is to live in such a beautiful place as Lamma island in Hong Kong.
Nagano is beautiful too - Lamma, Igor and my other new Hong Kong friends really ripped at my heart.
Below is a homebrew antenna VR2ZQZ created from almost nothing, very very skilled and focused on looking after people. He showed me a side of Hong Kong I would never find by myself.
Part of the local power generation schemes attempt to create renewable energy -the wind mill below was very impressive as the blades made a wooosh --- wooosh -----wooosh every time it cycled.
Igor had some very well thought comments about energy generation & ethics - not someone like me who takes power for granted.
Lamma island is very forward thinking - really rounds of Hong Kong - a little bit wild, I like it!!!
